Where to change money

ATMs are in every town, take international cards, and are usually the cheapest route once you count the spread on cash. If you want notes in hand, the exchange houses in the malls and souqs beat hotel desks, and the airport counters are fine for your first 20 or 30 rials. Bring clean, untorn notes if you are exchanging cash, and expect to show your passport.
