How to get to Ras Al Jinz
- 3 hrs from Muscat, any car.
- Book the reserve's hotel ahead: the night tours only run for guests, and confirm the turtle tour is included.
What you'll do
- The tour leaves the hotel at night under red lights: huge greens digging nest pits and laying eggs.
- With luck you'll catch a hatch, baby turtles running for the water.
- The museum fills in the science.

- No flash. Ever. It disorients them and they'll turn back to sea without laying.
- It's cold on that beach at night. Bring a jacket.
