Misfat Al Abriyeen
A mud-brick village in the mountains that time forgot to ruin.
Terraced gardens, falaj channels running through the alleys, and old stone houses stacked into the hillside. Walk it slowly, and stay the night in a village guesthouse if you can.

How to get to Misfat Al Abriyeen
- 2 hrs from Muscat, 30 min from Nizwa. Any car.
- Park outside the village.
- Walk in, cars aren't allowed through the old alleys.
What you'll do
- Walk down through the mud-brick alleys with the falaj running beside your feet.
- Come out into the terraced gardens below: date palms, bananas, mangoes.
- It takes an hour. You'll want two.
- The paths climb and drop the whole way, wear proper shoes.
- Village guesthouses will put you up for the night, that's the way to do it.
